As part of the E.D.E.N. Digital project we are hosting five masterclasses with established filmmakers.

All masterclasses are available for no cost and will be hosted via Zoom. The masterclasses are for ages 18+.

Brett Chapman | How to make a living as an independent filmmaker | Thursday 10th September 7-9pm

In this masterclass Brett Chapman will talk about how to make a living as an independent filmmaker working outside of the traditional structures of the film industry. The masterclass will look at ways that filmmakers can diversify their income streams whilst continuing to make award-winning work that they care about. From a short film made on a point and shoot camera to a 50k short film, Brett will talk about some of his previous projects and share his insights and tips for surviving as an indie filmmaker.

Rikki Beadle-Blair | How To Write Great Screenplay with Rikki Beadle-Blair | Monday 14th September 7-9pm

Break through the glass ceiling in your brain and learn to make the most of everything about you in this inspiring, practical workshop for anyone who wants to represent the LGBTQI+ community and have fun doing it.

Campbell X | Thursday 1st October 7-9pm 

Campbell X gives a workshop on getting your film from idea to screen. Bring your one page treatments. Campbell will guide you in how to:

• Polish your treatment
• Think of diversity & inclusion as second nature
• Excite funders/investors
• Find creative ways of shooting
• Develop an audience
• Market/screen your film/webseries

The workshop will include exercises and will be interactive so bring enthusiasm, pens, crayons, paper, tablets, laptops, smartphones.

Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor | Making a Short Film: Masterclass | Thursday 8th October 7-9pm

In this masterclass Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor will cover what makes a short film work, using a couple of short film examples. The masterclass will look at how to approach writing a short film, what to think about in terms of character and the practicalities around how to shoot it. It will also look at how much a short film can cost, should cost and what resources you already have access to, in order to make a short film. The masterclass will also cover where you should screen your film and how to get it out there.
