We are looking for 4 LGBTQ+ budding actors!

We are E.D.E.N. Film Productions (, an award-winning social enterprise based in Sheffield, working with the LGBTQ+ community providing filmmaking workshops, producing short & feature films alongside hosting screening events.

Since October 2023 we have been working with 10 members of the LGBTQ+ community, predominately from the trans community, on our Transforming Cinema Film Project. The group have been learning filmmaking skills to create a short film idea that will amplify trans voices, experiences and stories. The film will be screened at The Showroom Cinema for Trans Day of Visibility on the 31st March 2024.

We have decided to produce a trailer of the short film idea developed on the project, with the aim of hopefully attaining further funds to produce the full short film in the future. We are looking for volunteers aged 18+, who are from the LGBTQ+ community, wanting to try out their acting skills in our film trailer. We welcome all acting and performance experience levels, including lots or none!

Film Logline: At a local speech class – a group of Trans People come together to find their authentic voices and discover something beyond, beneath and between their everyday lives.

Please find the actor descriptions below.

FINN (20s – 30s – He/They), Trans Masc, insecure, awkward, dissociative. Finn has recently come out and moved away from his family. He’s now living alone in more ways than one.

LANA (20s – 50s She/Her), Trans Femme, friendly, geeky, larper. Until recently Lana has preferred to interact with people via characters – either online or via her live action roleplay group. She is at the speech class to meet people IRL as her true self .

RUST (20s – 40s He/They), Trans Masc, calm, confident, thoughtful. Rust spends most of his time observing and reflecting on what’s happening around him. Knows more than he says. He is a musician and is at the class to learn how to sing again.

HAZEL, (20s – 70s She/They) Trans Femme, quiet, shy, kind. Hazel is adorable and chaotic – she always seems to be late for something. She is trying to learn how to speak confidently to others.

To apply for a role, please send to a brief outline on why you want to play the role, your experience, any links/photos to previous work and anything else that you feel will support your application.
