Transforming Cinema Film Project 2023/24 was a hybrid filmmaking project for the LGBTQ+ community, specifically transgender, non-binary and genderqueer, genderfluid and gender non-conforming identities. The project was funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and supported by the Postcode Neighbourhood Trust.
Transforming Cinema Film Project 2023/24 launched in October 2023, engaging 10 members of the LGBTQ+ community in 9, 2-hour interactive online filmmaking workshops, covering storytelling techniques, camera and editing alongside an in-person workshop using the film equipment. The group worked together to develop a short film idea that we would capture across a weekend of filming together.

Filming for the project took place on the 24th-25th February across several Sheffield locations, where the group captured material for the two films produced on the project. One of these films is a trailer for Transmissions, a short film idea developed on the project that amplifies trans voices, experiences and stories. Alongside this film they also created a behind the scenes film, Making ourselves Seen/Heard, showcasing the projects journey.
So much hard work went into this project with participants being involved with the films entire development from script writing and story development, storyboarding, character designs, costumes/props/makeup, shot lists, auditions for our actors, marketing, filming, music sourcing, voice over writing/recording, editing and sound design.

These films premiered on YouTube on Friday the 19th April 2024.
Please find the synopsis and links to watch on YouTube for both films:
